Davis
has been touring the U.S. since his teens, mostly as a solo
acoustic guitar, vocal and harmonica act, but from time to time
accompanied by bass and drums. Davis commonly performs at clubs,
bars, theaters, and festivals throughout the Southeast, being
based out of Charleston, South Carolina. He has also enjoyed
a dozen tours of Europe, promoting his 2 album releases, Cryin’
the Blues ‘95 and Blues From the Get-go ‘99. Most critically
acclaimed is his debut release from ‘95, which was produced
by and features musical accompaniment from late-50's folk music
icon Eric Von Schmidt, who is most notorious for the fact that
his rendition of the song “Baby, Let Me Follow You Down” is
covered by Bob Dylan on his 1962 self-titled album.
The
29 year-old guitarist/singer’s most recent work has included
original music on the DVD release of Martin Scorsese’s PBS special
The Blues; guitar and vocals on the brand new album by Mississippi
delta blues singer Jesse Mae Hemphill, entitled Dare You To
Do It Again; and 2 songs on an independent film festival favorite
entitled Fresh Cut Grass which has aired on the Showtime Channel
nearly twice weekly throughout the past year.
He
has shared a bill or opened for many classic blues artists such
as James Cotton, Junior Wells, Koko Taylor, Big Jack Johnson,
David “Honeyboy” Edwards, Eddie Kirkland, and Britain’s John
Mayall & The Bluesbreakers, in addition to numerous popular
music legends such as Richie Havens, Mountain; both of Woodstock
fame, J. Geils, Jorma Kaukonen of Hot Tuna, and Eric Burden
of The Animals.
